Self-Aligning Ball Bearings
Made in Germany
Product description
Neuweg Self-Aligning Ball Bearings are designed to maintain reliable performance in applications where shaft deflection or mounting inaccuracies can result in angular misalignment. Their double-row ball arrangement and spherical outer ring raceway enable automatic alignment correction, helping to ensure smooth operation and long service life.
By accommodating misalignment between the shaft and housing, these bearings reduce operating stresses on both the bearing and surrounding components. This helps improve equipment reliability, minimise wear and support consistent performance in demanding operating environments.
In addition to compensating for misalignment, Neuweg Self-Aligning Ball Bearings are capable of supporting radial loads and moderate axial loads, providing a versatile solution for a wide range of industrial and agricultural applications.
Manufactured to the highest quality standards, they deliver dependable operation, reduced maintenance requirements and enhanced equipment longevity.
Key Benefits:
- Automatic Misalignment Compensation: The spherical outer ring raceway enables the bearing to accommodate angular misalignment caused by shaft deflection or installation inaccuracies.
- Improved Equipment Reliability: By reducing stresses created by misalignment, these bearings help improve machine performance and extend component life.
- Versatile Load Capability: Designed to support radial loads together with moderate axial loads, providing flexibility across a wide range of applications.
- Reduced Maintenance Requirements: Automatic alignment correction helps minimise wear and contributes to longer bearing service life.
- Smooth and Efficient Operation: Maintains stable running performance even in applications where alignment conditions cannot always be controlled.
Typical Applications:
- Fans and Blowers
- Pumps and compressors
- Conveyors
- Agricultural Machinery
- Processing Equipment
- Material Handling Systems
- General Industrial Machinery
Lubrication & Sealing
Series 22.. and 23.. self-aligning ball bearings are available in open and sealed (2RS) designs. Seals are described as nitrile rubber, reinforced with a steel insert, and are fixed in the outer ring, sealing against the inner ring via a sealing lip.
Sealed bearings are factory greased to support a typical bearing service life and are therefore described as maintenance free in normal conditions; however, sealed variants have lower load-carrying capacity than equivalent open bearings, and care must be taken during installation to avoid twisting the seals out of position.

Technical Specifications
The table below summarises the most common Neuweg self-aligning ball bearing configurations.
For full dimensional and load data by size and series, please refer to the downloadable technical documentation.
| Configuration | Common series | Bore options | Typical clearance | Sealing | Permitted misalignment* | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Open (standard) | 12.. / 22.. | Cylindrical or tapered | C0 (cylindrical), C3 (tapered) | Open | 2.5° (12.. / 22..) | Suitable where misalignment is expected and external lubrication is available. |
| Open (standard) | 13.. / 23.. | Cylindrical or tapered | C0 (cylindrical), C3 (tapered) | Open | 3.0° (13.. / 23..) | Higher misalignment capacity compared to Series 12.. / 22.. (open versions). |
| Sealed (2RS) | 22.. / 23.. | Typically cylindrical; variants available | Varies by bearing | Sealed both sides (2RS) | 1.5° (sealed) | Factory greased, maintenance-free in normal conditions; reduced load capacity vs open. |
| Tapered bore (with sleeve) | Across series | Tapered bore | Typically C3 | Open or sealed | As per series | Tapered bores are predominantly mounted using adapter sleeves. |
Typical permitted tilt is 2.5° for Series 12.. / 22.. open, 3° for Series 13.. / 23.. open, and 1.5° for sealed versions.
Both support misalignment compensation, but tapered bore versions are predominantly fitted using adapter sleeves, which can simplify mounting and positioning on the shaft.
Sealed Series 22.. / 23.. bearings are factory greased and described as maintenance free for normal bearing life; they help reduce contamination ingress, but have lower load-carrying capacity than open bearings of the same type.
Cylindrical bore bearings are typically supplied with C0, and tapered bore bearings with C3 (other clearances may be available on enquiry).
External dimensions are laid down in ISO R15 / DIN 630, and bearings are manufactured to standard tolerance P0.
Yes. During installation, sealed bearings should not be twisted, as this can force seals out of position.
